Feng SHui Canada - Feng Shui Toronto
Feng Shui (pronounced as “Fung Shway”) literally mean “wind water” and has been practised by the Chinese for several thousand of years.
Feng Shui is the practise of creating a happy living environment within your home or working space. It promotes the right balance of Yin and Yang energy while incorporating the five elements – fire, earth, metal, water and wood – that makes up the cosmic universe we live in.
“Chi” means “vital energy”. Everything is alive with “Chi”, connected by “Chi” and the “Chi” in everything is always changing. Seeing the world as a dynamic, ever changing “Sea of Chi” helps us understand why Feng Shui promotes the building and enhancing of vital chi flow in our homes and lives.
People often come into Feng Shui thinking it will transform their lives. It is true that introducing Feng Shui practices into your daily environment can make a difference to the way you live, but Feng Shui is not only an external, but also an internal process. Feng Shui is not a subject you can learn as a “once-and-for-all template” in how to arrange your environment or organize life. It is an “on-going process”, which should be approached to suit your personality, lifestyle and your aspirations.

Your Feng Shui Astrological Luck And Remedies
In The Year Of The Earth Rat 2008
Rat 1900, 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008
The Rat can look forward to a good year and benefit from what is known as “heaven luck”, where many opportunities will come your way. Wealth and prosperity luck will be there and with the support of the ‘Tai Sui’ (Grand Duke Jupiter), you will benefit most of it. Although luck is on your side, you will face lots of competition. However, do not to take this in a negative way and instead try to turn to your competitors into your supporters. You should display the Pi Xie or Pi Yao in the North to avoid problems. The year starts well, with success coming to you as early as February with excellent relationship luck. To benefit from Heaven luck, you will need to activate the North sector of your home with lots of metal energy by hanging 8-Immortal coins. Activate good networking luck by displaying figurines of your Allies (friends) and secret friend – Dragon, Monkey and Ox in the North sector of your living room and your work area. To enhance Wealth luck, display the Rat Spouting Jewels in your living room. As there will be months where you may be stressed with work, you should carry the Annual Wu Luo Amulet. To protect and multiply your money, keep it in the Dragon Wallet.
Ox 1901, 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009
2008 will be a better year for the Ox compared to 2007 as obstacles and frustrations from 2007 will dissipate and things will run smoothly. The year promises to be a time where love and relationships will strengthen. Single Ox will find their match this year while those who are married will re-energize their marital relationship. Display a pair of Mandarin Ducks in the Southwest corner of your home or wear the 2 Eyed Dzi Bead bracelet to assist you in strengthening love and marriage luck.
Carry the 4 Heavenly Kings Amulet with you to strengthen relationships in your work environment amongst your colleagues. There is a sign of a promotion at work and a significant increase in income as long as you stay focused on work projects. It is advisable for you to wear the Mantra Ring to tap into the luck of the year. The year is beneficial for those pursuing higher education to carry the Education Amulet for additional luck. For wealth luck, display a Water Feature in the East sector. 2008 will keep you busy socially and at work, which leave you feeling “burnt out” and falling ill. Thus, it is advisable to protect your health by placing a Wu Luo beside your bed or hang the Medicine Buddha Mandala or wear the Medicine Buddha bracelet.
Tiger
The Tigers can look forward to a much better year as the Star of Romance and Scholastic (education) excellence visits into their Northeast sector. While the year promises a lot of love and strengthening of relationships, the natural element of the Tiger may cause her/him to be overtly aggressive in their pursuit of success thus leading to problems. It is important for the Tiger to keep their emotions in balance and strategize properly thus they should display the Ksitigarbah Fireball or Gold Laughing Buddha in the West sector. The Tiger also enjoys a small auspicious luck from the 24 mountains which means they will have a small good fortune. The Tigers will benefit greatly from wearing metal this year such as the “Om Mani Padme Hum” or Kalachakra gold pendant. It is a year for the Tiger to tap into the luck of your allies (friends) and secret friend by carrying their Ally Coin or by displaying figurines of their allies and secret friend - Dog, Horse and Boar. It is also a year for the Tiger to learn new skills thus they should carry the Education Amulet. The most suitable Dzi for the Tiger is the 4-Eye Dzi bracelet as this will enhance their wisdom and bring clear thoughts. To enhance for good career luck, they should display one of the 5 Famous Generals such as General Kuan Kung in the center of their home. To enhance wealth luck, display a Water feature in the East sector of their home.
; Rabbit
A good year is in store for the Rabbit with lots of opportunities to make money and achieve success. The only setback is the declining energy star from the 24 mountains that weakens the Rabbit. This will result in you putting in more effort and to be more tenacious especially if you are aiming for your heart’s desire otherwise it could lead to “miss” opportunities. To strengthen your intrinsic energy, you will need to display a Water feature in the East sector of your home. In addition, you should tap into the energies of the ‘Tien Ti Ren’ (Trinity luck of Heaven, Earth and Man luck) by placing figurines of the Boar, Sheep and Dog at home or on your work desk. Display a figurine of the Monkey Sitting On Elephant on your work desk will bring promotion luck. To capture wealth luck, you need to display the Yellow Dzambhala holding The Mongoose in the Sheng Shi (wealth) direction of your living room. You should also carry the Tai sui Amulet because of the conflicting energies with the “Tai Sui” (Grand Duke Jupiter). You should also protect your home by hanging the Kalachakra Mantra Plaque above your front door. Single Rabbits can enhance their peach blossom luck to find suitable partners this year by displaying a figurine of the Blue Rat in the North sector of their bedroom. A suitable Dzi for the year is the 7-eye Dzi bracelet as this will bring smoothness and good luck to all your endeavors.
Dragon
This is a fantastic year for the Dragon with many opportunities coming your way. Your creative energy is at its peak and you will find yourself pulled in many different directions. Refrain from being too impulsive and devote more time to consider your options before starting on any new projects. Remember, efforts spent on one project may mean opportunity costs elsewhere. The completion star combined with the Earth seal from the 24 mountains mixed with your natural drive to succeed is a potent cocktail. Ensure that you correct your Feng Shui this year in order to take advantage of Earth luck. You should wear the 3-eye Dzi bracelet to assist you and to keep you healthy. A potent symbol for the year is the Earth Seal and you should keep the symbol of Earth on the cover of your important files for excellent luck. Alternatively, you can wear the gold “Hum” Pendant. Ensure that you activate your recognition luck with the Tribute Horse in the South sector of your home or office and for promotion luck with a Monkey Sitting on a Horse on your office desk. Energize your natural energy by lighting incense in a 9-Dragon Incense Burner placed in front of your home altar or hang the 9-Dragon screen on the Southeast wall. Protect your home by hanging the Kalachakra Mantra plaque above your main door.
Snake
The Snake comes out from under the shadow of Tai Sui, (Grand Duke Jupiter) with improved health and energies. Obstacles and problems faced in 2007 will dissolve in 2008 with the Snake gaining strength and luck from March onwards. There will be improvements in the area of your career. Recognition luck will be greater than wealth, which means that most of your gains will come in the form of your Supervisor recognizing your effort rather than in material gains. To enhance for promotion luck, display the Monkey Sitting On An Elephant or a Golden Ru Yi on your work desk. While there is money luck indicated in your chart, you will also be prone to getting robbed and cheated. Carry the 4 Heavenly Kings Amulet as a remedy. Protect your home by displaying figurines of the Door Guardians beside your main door. Keep your money in the Dragon Wallet for empowerment. For wealth, display 9 pieces 3-Legged Toads on the staircase leading from the ground level to the top floor. If you have your own business or are in sales, you should display the Pak Choy (Chinese cabbage) in the Southeast sector of your office to bring lots of sales or customers. To ensure smoothness in all that you do, wear the 10-Eye Dzi bracelet. There is romance in the chart and the single Snakes should meet their mate this year while the married Snakes will renew their passion for each other. To enhance relationships, carry or wear the Infinity or Mystic Knot Symbol with you.
Horse
The Horses faces a tough year as the stars and energies in 2008 are not in their favour. Your luck forecast indicates a year filled with misfortune, obstacles, mishaps and general bad luck. You are in direct conflict with Tai Sui (Grand Duke Jupiter), the #5 a misfortune star, 3 killings and the star of natural disasters. With the unfavourable stars in your chart, it is important that you apply the required remedies as your horoscope sign is the only sign that is severely affected this the year. You should display a Pi Yao in the South sector and carry the Tai Sui Amulet to appease the Tai Sui and also to curb that impulsive trait of the Horse. Instead, it is advisable to appear indecisive this year. You must also remedy the #5 by wearing the Kalachakra Pendant or carry the 5-Element Pagoda keychain. You should display the 5 Element Trinity Pagoda in the South sector of your home. Tap into Divine luck by displaying the 3 Generations Of Sheep in the South sector. You must also activate the luck of your allies (astrological friends) by carrying the Ally Coin with you. As for the 3 killings, you should display either the 3 Qi Lins or the 3 Divine Guardians in the South sector of your home. If you are the main income earner, you must protect your home from harm by hanging the Kalachakra Mantra Plaque above your front door.
Sheep
This will not be an easy year for the Sheep with predictions of unfortunate luck at work, business, love and health. There is risk of being cheated by people you trust and losing money through theft or robbery. You can expect obstacles that may cause disruption to the flow of projects and tasks. You are also indirectly in conflict with Tai Sui and this brings the possibility of further mishaps. You should carry the Tai Sui Amulet with you and display a Pi Yao in the South sector of your home. Hang the Blue Rhino Amulet in your car and keep one in your bag as well to fend off the possibility of burglary and robbery. Carry the 4 Heavenly Kings Amulet in your wallet for extra protection. You should also display a Wu Luo beside your bed and wear the Medicine Buddha Bracelet. To protect your wealth, you should place a Lock Coin in a red packet with some money and put it underneath your pillow. To enhance for wealth, you should activate your astrological friend, the Rabbit by displaying a Water Feature in the East sector of your living room. Strengthen your luck by displaying 3-Generations Of Sheep and a Precious Elephant in the Southwest. A suitable Dzi bracelet for the Sheep this year is the 3-eye Dzi as this will protect you and enhance your prosperity luck.
Monkey
The Monkey will not have an easy year in 2008 in comparison to 2007. While the robbery and financial loss star will have an effect on the Monkey’s luck this year, you will also have some measure of protection with the Golden Deities star. There will be helpful people and luck from the heavens, which will help you in any predicament. There is a tendency for the Monkey to lose her/his cool that may lead to problems with her/his relationships. Thus, she/he should carry the Door Guardian Amulet with her/him and wear the Dragon Eye Dzi for protection. Activate the Gold Deities luck by inviting a Golden Kuan Yin into your home and display her in the Northeast sector of your living room. Protect your home from burglary by displaying the Precious Elephant in the Southwest sector. Alternatively, you may display a pair of Blue Rhinoceros instead of the Elephant. For personal luck, you should wear the “Om or Hum” gold pendant. To enhance for better income, you should display a Water Feature in the Southwest corner of your living room. To enhance for excellent relationships and good networking, you should place Glitter Lamps in the Southwest 3, Southeast 1 and North 2 sectors of your home as this completes the ‘Tien Ti Ren’ (Trinity of Heaven, Earth and Man luck formation) which is very auspicious. In the career front, you should ensure proper support by placing a Dragon Tortoise behind your work desk.
Rooster
2008 will be a noisy year for the Rooster as the argumentative star flies into the Rooster’s sector. This makes the naturally loud and sometimes brash Rooster rather difficult to get along with. Due to your passionate nature, this will be a year where your emotional temperament hits new highs. You should make every effort to de-stress and calm yourself otherwise relationships may be strained. Your career continues to a greater height and money luck is promising. You should carry the Ksitigarbha Keychain with you to cancel the aggressive energies that hinder your progress this year. Display the Ksitigarbha Fireball or Gold Laughing Buddha in the West sector of your home. There may be some legal issues this year, in order to protect you, display the 4 Heavenly Kings in your office or living room. To enhance wealth, you should place 9 Dragons next to a Water Feature in the East sector. Alternatively, you can hang the 9 Gold Dragon Screen facing your front door. To improve relationships and actualize your wishes wear the 21-Eye Dzi Bracelet on your left wrist and enhance health by wearing the Medicine Buddha Bracelet. Activate the ‘Tien Ti Ren’ (Trinity of Heaven, Earth and Man luck) formation, which is very auspicious, by displaying a Snake in the Southeast sector, a Rooster in the West and an Ox in the Northeast. The 24 mountains bring the General star, which brings you power and authority. To enhance it, place an image of General Kuan Kung in the West sector of your home.
Dog
The Dog will be overhelmed by illness, health issues, accidents and mishaps this year as the illness star afflicts his/her sector. Senior dogs should display the Medicine Buddha Mandala in the Northwest of their homes and wear the Medicine Buddha Bracelet to stay healthy. It is also recommended that they display a Wu Luo on both sides of their bed. On the other hand, there is good luck in the form of a ‘small lucky star’, which brings small doses of joyful occasions and happiness into their life. Celebrating birthdays, weddings or the birth of a new baby will indeed improve your overall luck this year. All dogs will greatly benefit by hanging up the Kalachakra Mantra plaque above your main door. You can enhance wealth luck by hanging up the Yellow Dzambhala Print in the East of your living room. Carry your money in the 9-Dragon Wallet to further enhance yourself. Young Dogs should carry with them the Education Amulet to assist in their education. In areas of your work, there is average luck. This is not a year to be changing jobs or careers although you may feel that you are not getting the recognition you deserve. Persevere and you will see the results of your efforts in the 3rd quarter of the year. Display a Golden Ru Yi or the Monkey Sitting on Elephant to enhance yourself.
Boar
The Boar experiences a mixed year with ill health affecting their luck and weakening their luck in 2008. They also enjoy the Star of Heaven Seal, which brings them good fortune that is unexpected and quite meaningful. Things proceed smoothly at work and peers will tend to favor them in any confrontation as they have the luck of good friends. They should carry the Ally Coin with them at all times to further enhance themselves. Boars should take the appropriate steps in controlling illness by displaying a Wu Luo beside their bed and hang the Medicine Buddha Mandala in the Northwest sectors of their homes. They should also wear the Medicine Buddha Bracelet for further protection. Display the Heaven Seal on your work desk or display it in the Northwest sector of your living room for luck. To bring wealth luck, you should display a Water Feature with figurines of your astrological friends, the Rabbit, the Boar and Sheep in the East sector. There is a small chance that Boars may encounter financial loss by being robbed, thus protect your home by hanging the Kalachakra Mantra Plaque above your main door. Boars pursuing in their education will do well in their exams this year, and should carry the Education Amulet for additional help. A suitable Dzi bracelet for the Boar is the 3-Eye Dzi bracelet as it brings prosperity, health and wealth. Preferably, wear it on your left wrist.

FS Tips
1. Good Feng Shui starts with good locations:
Auspicious locations are usually slightly elevated places where the “green dragon” on your left rests gently with the “white tiger” on your right, their bodies curving gently to create an armchair formation. The land is protected at the back by hills that symbolize the black tortoise, while in the South the presence of the crimson phoenix enhances the site. And if, facing this wonderful configuration of hills and mountains there is also view of meandering or slow moving water; and if the vegetation in the area is also green and luscious, then placing your home here brings an abundance of good fortune. There is enormous wealth for the household for succeeding generations. The first TIP is to try to find such a site.
2. The Bright Hall:
In front of the house, always try to create a small level area as this creates the auspicious bright hall effect. This part of your home represents the phoenix and this celestial bird benefits from an expanse of open space. The bright hall formation allows incoming chi to settle and turn benevolent before entering your home.
3. Avoid living in a Cul-de-Sac:
It is not a good idea to live in a house that is located at the end of the cul-de-sac. This suggests a situation where should you get into trouble there is “no way out”. If your house is located at the end of the dead end road then the way to deal with the situation is to build an inner courtyard with a wall directly facing the road and to build a small window that will symbolically capture whatever bad chi is being directed at the house. It is also a good idea to landscape with health growing plants, water features and good earth energy such as pebbles.
4. Auspicious colours for main doors:
Main doors that face SOUTH can be painted RED
Main doors that face NORTH can be painted BLUE
Main doors that face EAST or SOUTHEAST can be painted GREEN
Main doors that face WEST or NORHWEST can be painted WHITE
Main doors that SOUTHWEST or NORTHEAST can be painted YELLOW
5. Main door facing the staircase:
It is not a good thing for the main door to open to a staircase, the negative impact is “Chi” rushing out of the main door or connotes to the indecision for people living in the house. The best cure for a staircase facing the main door is to hang a well-lit chandelier between the main door and the staircase. The presence of bright lights serves to dissolve the uncertain energy.
6. Toilets directly above the Main door:
This is a major affliction that is common. The ideal solution is to simply stop using that toilet upstairs or to shine a bright light upwards in the hope of lifting the “Chi” energy surrounding the front door.
7. Feng Shui of doors:
Doors are important conduits of energy in the home. There should not be too many doors in the house, since every door represents a “mouth” and too many doors in any house, can lead to quarrels and misunderstandings. For example there should not be 3 doors in a row this is an inauspicious affliction. Hang a crystal under the middle door or place some kind of divider to divert the “flow of Chi”.
8. Exposed overhead beams:
Never sit under an exposed overhead beam, especially if they are structural heavy beams. Sitting or sleeping under such exposed beams causes stress, tension and headaches. If there are such beams in your house, hang 2 flutes tied in a red thread and place it in a shape of “A” on the beam itself. This reduces the killing energy being sent out.
However, if you live in a log cabin house or log cottage where the heavy ceiling beams are part of the style, then the beams are not harmful. It is the single exposed beams that are harmful.
9. Mirrors in the living room:
When mirrors successfully enlarge the spaciousness of rooms, they bring good “Chi” (energy). Wall mirrors in the living room are therefore excellent feng shui, as long as they do not directly reflect the main door or reflect toilets, staircases and other sources of negative chi. Mirrors should never be placed too high or too low, as this causes imbalance to the chi energy of the home. Let your mirrors be effective space enlarging feature.
10. Three (3) Prosperity coins:
For those in business, tapping three Chinese Prosperity coins tied with red or gold thread onto the cash registers, invoices files and even desktop computers create the footprints for wealth luck to follow. This is said to be an efficient way of increasing business sales and profits. It is also great idea to keep these coins tied with red thread inside your wallet to ensure that you always have a good and steady flow of income.
Questions You Asked
Q. What is the purpose of the three legged toad?
A. It is believed that placing 3 legged toads in the house brings many moneymaking opportunities to the residents, as this toad is known to love money. Place them in a set of 3, 6 or 9. So if you are looking for a symbol to bring you wealth luck, get yourself a proper, authentic 3 legged toads
Q. I am buying a new home. When you open the door, you can see a straight path to the back door of the house. I know this is not good. I love the house and just purchased it. How do I correct this error?
A. To have your front door directly face your back door is considered unlucky because the auspicious chi (energy) that enters your home can easily go straight out again. Further to that, if there is a direct view of your back door from your front door, this encourages the chi to travel in a straight line, causing it to turn into harmful / negative energy. The best thing to do is either use a screen to divide the space into two separate segments, or display plants and hang crystals (reasonable size) along the path from the front door to the back door, to encourage the chi to slow down and meander, rather than shoot straight through.
Q. I heard that it is not good to have water in the bedroom. I bought a waterbed last week and wondered whether it will be bad for us?
A. Yes, you are right, water in the bedroom is not good. The bedroom is our sanctuary where you rest and sleep. Water here presents danger and money losses. All forms of water should be avoided. This includes water features, paintings of water, vases with fresh flowers etc. unfortunately this includes waterbeds. Waterbeds are not only filled with water, they are wobbly and represent a lack of support as you sleep. It is best if you move the bed into a guest room where usage is limited or return it back to the store.
Q. I have a staircase that leads straight down to my front door. How do I remedy this?
A. The best is to either use a screen to break down the flow of chi (energy) and to force the energy to meander, or move the position of your door such that it is not dead centre of the staircase going up. But if you can’t do either of these, hang wind chimes or facetted crystal balls or place a pair of Fu Dogs at the base of the staircase to break the negative chi.
Q. My bedroom is above the garage. I read that it is not advisable to sleep above the garage. Please advice.
A. Sleeping above the garage is considered inauspicious because it is interpreted as sleeping above a vacuum. Usually the garage is unoccupied and tends to collect clutter and garbage. Hanging a painting or picture of a feng shui mountain in the garage, symbolizes the vacuum being filled up with earth which is also excellent as grounding energy for your bedroom. Keep the garage clutter free and clean.

TOTAL FENG SHUI written by Lillian Too
“Bring Health, Wealth and Happiness Into Your Life”
Introduction of the Feng Shui;
In today’s age of incredible growth and global linkages, it is possible for virtually anyone to access the philosophy and practices of feng shui. Much of the mystique has been taken out of feng shui practice and it is gaining acceptance as the science of living space.
Many people worldwide accept and are committed to feng shui.
What is feng shui?
Feng Shui is representative of Chinese science in the same manner that the electromagnetic spectrum is representative of Western science, in which terms of visible and invisible light emissions in the electromagnetic spectrum are used to define our surroundings.
In feng shui terms, “chi” consists of invisible lines of energy, picturesquely described as the “cosmic breath” of the celestial dragon.
How can feng shui improve my life?
Feng shui will not change your fate or destiny completely and it should not be practised with this unrealistic expectation. It is also neither a pseudo-religious nor a spiritual practice. It is not magic or shamanistic. It is a living skill requiring the acquisition of knowledge and practical experience and requiring acceptance and understanding of the invisible energy forces that surround humankind.
Our lives are influenced by the quality of chi that pervades our living spaces.
The living chi of the natural environment has the power to nuture us or to destroy us.
Depending on your life aspirations, you will find feng shui expertise has many solutions and suitable recommendations for you. Let this book open a valuable and comprehensive door into the fascinating world of feng shui……
